Chance Lewis, associate professor of urban education in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture, released his third book, titled An Educator’s Guide to Working With African American Students: Strategies for Promoting Academic Success.
The book is a guide for educational practitioners to assist African-American students to reach their full potential in school by providing evidence-based recommendations and teaching strategies to improve their academic performance.
"This book helps the field of education adequately prepare African-American students for success in the classroom, particularly in urban settings," Lewis said.
Lewis is also the Houston Endowment Inc. Endowed Chair of Urban Education.
