Graduate Student Organization

New Opportunity for TLAC Graduate Students

With initial planning meetings last April and officer elections held in May, graduate and post-baccalaureate students in TLAC now have a unique organization designed specifically for them. Graduate Student Organization (GSO) was formed with three central goals for the TLAC department:

  1. To make the voices of students heard by faculty and serve as a link between faculty and students ;
  2. To provide professional development opportunities for students (such as writing and publishing journal articles, better support for  dissertations, and an improved network of scholars for placement);
  3. And to create more funding opportunities for students .

GSO meets every two weeks, with every other meeting being a general meeting. While meetings are usually held in Harrington 304, specific dates and times are to be announced. GSO is also planning to hold social events, including their first social gathering in early October at TLAC Department Head Dr. Dennie Smith’s home . GSO’s meetings, socials, and other events and projects serve as great opportunities for TLAC graduate students to interact and network with other graduate students and professionals in the field.

For more information about GSO or to join the listserv for upcoming events, students and faculty members are encouraged to contact any of the officers:
