The post-baccalaureate program is a cohort program. Students take all of the courses in the program together during the summer, fall, and spring semesters. Click on each course to read a description of the course.

Courses During Internship- during the internship semesters, students will enroll in TEED 684, Professional Internship, and TEED 682, Seminar. Students may not register for any other courses during the fall or spring semesters of the certification program without permission of the program director and consent of intern's public school principal.Recommendation for Certification
Students will take the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility (PPR) TExES test (a test of teaching ability) during the Spring semester of their internship. Registration for the spring PPR will be discussed during the fall seminar and the application with appropriate fee (currently $72) will be submitted to the certification office in Harrington 801.
Upon passing the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility (PPR) TExES and successfully completing internships and seminar requirements, students will complete an application for Standard Certification and will be recommended by the certification officer in the College of Education as a certification candidate. The State Board for Educator Certification has established fees for the PPR and the Content Specialization tests (Currently the fee is $72 per test).

- EDCI 611:
- Teaching English as a Second Language
Translation of theory into practice stressing various methods and techniques in ESL; relationship of language development, culture and conceptual processes to language teaching. (p. 396).
- TEED 602:
- Contemporary Perspectives on Education
Current issues in American public education concerning sociological, curricular, political, and legal perspectives. Prerequisite: Admission to Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program (p. 400).
- TEED 649:
- Instructional Strategies in Academic Specialties in the Middle and Senior High School: Principles and Applications
Relation of information processing models to theory and practice of planning, delivering, and evaluating instruction in public school settings. Generic competencies required for teacher certification in Texas (p. 400). TEED 682: Seminar Reports of research, discussions and analysis of problems and issues in teaching/learning with first year of teaching in public schools. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisites: TEED 602 and 649 (p. 400).
- TEED 684:
- Professional Internship
Supervised experiences in performing professional functions in classroom settings. Prerequisite: Approval of program coordinator (p. 400).
