The Urban Education program at Texas A&M University has a commitment to developing the nation's next generation of premier scholars and educational leaders that will facilitate positive change in urban educational environments. To do so, we have implemented a Study Abroad experience for our graduate students that will take place every two (2) years (starting 2010) to examine urban education topics from a 'global perspective.'
Twenty (20) graduate students from the Urban Education program will travel to South Africa from July 28, 2010 - August 8, 2010 to enhance their exposure concerning current issues in the field of urban education. Graduate students will visit South Africa, Zambia and Botswana. Also, they will have an opportunity to present research at an international research conference and visit unique destinations such as:
Constitution Hill, University of Witwatersrand, Seleleka High School in Seweto (and many others).
