Online M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in STEM
The M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction with STEM emphasis program develops and applies STEM knowledge for practice in two domains: research based best practices and practical application and leadership skills. Research-based content themes and theory are integrated with practice with emphasis on application of knowledge base. Students who complete the program will graduate with an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction.

The Texas A&M Graduate STEM Certificate provides teacher-practitioners specializing in grades 6-12 with an opportunity to expand their skills and methods for engaging students in rich, powerful STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) learning experiences in a cutting-edge online environment. The 12-credit hour online certificate focuses on topics of importance to teachers and districts within a high-impact, two-semester timeline.
The STEM Certificate is comprised of four courses with two courses offered in the summer and two offered the following fall. This program is unique because it offers the flexibility for students to continue their studies beyond the 12-credit hour STEM Certificate and apply to pursue a M.Ed. online where each credit earned from the STEM Certificate can be applied towards your Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree. The deadline for applications is March 1st.

To be admitted to a graduate program, you must apply to the TLAC department and Texas A&M University. Deadline for applications to the next M.Ed. online program with STEM emphasis is March 1, 2018.
Essay topics are included below for your planning purposes; however, final submissions must be included in the STEM application above to be considered. Emailed or mailed essays will not be accepted. You will also need to submit your vita, which includes your education, job experience, and any professional presentations, publications, grants, professional certifications/licenses held and participation in professional organizations.
1. Successful applicants to this program indicate a reason matched to a need for earning this professional certificate. Explain your views regarding the match you see between your reason for wanting to earn your STEM Certificate and the need for earning one (1000 word limit)
2. Successful applicants to this program come with a set of professional and educational experiences that "set the stage" for learning. OUR GOAL is that your learning in the certificate program will advance your own career goals and will contribute to the learning of your students and to peer faculty members at your school. Describe your professional and educational expertise that you bring with you to the STEM Certificate at Texas A&M University and your goals that you will have achieved when you are finished. 3. In dealing with humans we all experience time commitment issues and barriers we need to recognize, plan for and address. Describe your barriers to participating in a certificate program where you will participate in two graduate level courses during the first summer and two courses during the falls semester and how you will overcome each. (1000 word limit)
- The GRE is not required for admission into the Online M.Ed. STEM program. Students who complete the certificate and wish to continue on to the master’s program will be asked to take the GRE during the second or third semester of the program. The scores are used for benchmarking purposes only. The STEM certificate does not require the GRE.
