FROM OUR FORMER STUDENTS

“One of the things that set this program apart is that it is located within the Teaching, Learning & Culture Department at Texas A&M. There’s more to teaching than just delivering a curriculum or instructional strategy; we have to consider the influence that culture has one what we do.”

Carissa

Carissa

Howdy! My name is Carissa Jackson and I am a Senior Interdisciplinary Studies: 4-8th Language Arts and Social Studies major from Manor, Texas. After graduating, I look forward to teaching, mentoring, and serving young people as a middle grades teacher for years to come and maybe one day work within the non-profit area of education. I also hope to obtain my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

During my time thus far at Texas A&M, I have become involved in Project Sunshine, Delight Ministries, and Aggie Keys. As hobbies and casual interests I enjoy journaling, crafting, going to the movies, attending live concerts, browsing through children’s books, and spending time with friends and family.

This is my second semester serving as an Undergraduate Peer Mentor and I am so excited to be working with Professor Lynch and INST 362 students throughout the semester!
