Howdy! My name is Kamryn Galvan and I am currently going into my junior year here at Texas A&M. My major is Education Generalist Ec-6th and I plan to later get my masters in Human Resources for Education. I am all the way from Sugarland, Tx which is only about 30 mins outside the Houston area, so I always say Houston has my heart! I also just recently ended my first internship with the Fort Worth ISD HR Department!

When not in school I enjoy traveling and going shopping! I am a shopaholic and if I could stay at the outlet malls all day I would! For this semester I look forward to good grades and football season. I am a huge football fan and I cannot wait to cheer on our Aggies! !

I am here for nothing but support and as your UPMT I promise to leave no student behind and to always provide guidance. I hope this year runs smoothly and everyone has a safe semester! If you need me I will most likely be hanging out in the lab or chillin in Harrington Tower! Looking forward to a happy and blessed school year!

  • Gabby Parnell

Howdy! My name is Gabby Parnell and I am currently a junior EC-6th generalist major. I am from Cypress, Texas which is right outside of Houston. After graduation in 2024, I plan on continuing my education to pursue a masters degree in either administration or curriculum development. I am so excited to be working as a UPMT with Dr. Hawk this year.

I have always had an admiration for educators since a young age, but never saw myself being one until I graduated high school. Then, I began to have an interest in education when I started working at a church in their childcare department. I fell in love with the environment and wonderful personalities of the children, prompting me to rethink my future career. Being able to see students learn and change week to week in front of my own eyes, made me excited to teach and inspire kids.

In my free time, you can find me out walking my dog Willie Nelson, baking something sweet, or binge watching a sitcom. I have recently started getting into yoga and reading so those are some more of my favorite things to do in order to decompress. I am also a UPM for RDNG 373 for the first time too so this is a season for new experiences for me.

My goal in this position is to foster an encouraging environment for students to feel comfortable asking questions. I want to be able to guide student’s thinking and support their findings to successfully complete this course. Additionally, I plan on being a soundboard for students and helping them discover/navigate new technological platforms. I am so stoked to be of help to my peers in this position as a UPMT and further their knowledge of technology in teaching.

Howdy! My name is Chavely Owens and I am a Special Education major from Denton, Texas. When I was little, I always remembered playing pretend teacher in my room with my stuffed animals. I’ve always loved learning, and the thing that I am most excited about in my future career is that I will be helping kids grow into their passions!

When I am not in class or studying I am most likely reading a book, rewatching a tv show, or playing video games on my Nintendo Switch. One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my husband and friends by doing a game night that is filled with board games, card games, and video games.

This semester is my first semester as a University Peer Mentor in Technology (UPMT) and I am so excited to help students with any questions they might have when it comes to utilizing technology in the classroom.
