Welcome

Howdy! Welcome to the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Culture (TLAC) at Texas A&M University. The department has a history of preparing teachers, educational leaders, and educational researchers since its inception in 1969. Over the years, the faculty have been actively developing various programs in responding to changes in the state certification regulations and society's needs. The department currently offers a B.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies; teacher certifications in PreK-6, Middle Grades 4-8, and Secondary 8-12; Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction; Ph.D. degree in Curriculum and Instruction; and online M.Ed. and online executive Ed.D. programs.

As one of four departments in the College of Education and Human Development, TLAC is currently home to about 1200 undergraduate students, 400 graduate students, 48 faculty members, and 24 staff members. From 2005-2010, TLAC produced over 2600 teachers, 470 Master’s and 100 Ph.D. graduates. The department values interdisciplinary collaborations, multicultural and international education, and has outstanding faculty, staff, and students.

Hope this website can help you learn more about the history of the department, the academic programs, the nationally and internationally recognized faculty, and their research interests and collaborations. It is TLAC's goal to provide you with an informative view and a working knowledge of the department.
