Undergraduate Admissions Deadlines


Freshman and Transfer Admissions Deadlines

Freshman


Freshman admissions, students with no previous college credit, must apply through Texas A&M’s Office of Admissions.

Transfer Admissions


Transfer students are students who have earned college credit after high school, at a local 2-year community college or another 4-year university.

Transfer Requirements:

For questions about transferring to a major in TLAC, contact the Undergrad Recruitment Office or call (979) 862-4345.

Readmits


Readmits must follow all Texas A&M readmit requirements.

Change of Major


Change of Major Requirements

Students submit their change of curriculum requests online through Howdy. Specific change of major requirements can be found on the Undergraduate Studies website.

Applicants are reviewed by a committee and admitted on a competitive basis. Meeting the minimum requirements listed does not guarantee admission.

Deadlines to Apply:

  • Spring 2025: August 14, 2024 – September 16, 2024
  • Summer 2025: December 17, 2024 – February 10, 2025
  • Fall 2025: May 13, 2025 – June 24, 2025

Prospective change of major students must submit a change of major application and meet the minimum change of major requirements at the time of application. Students will be notified of a final decision no later than 10 business days after the application deadline.

To complete the change of major process, accepted applicants must attend the mandatory Change of Major processing meeting. Details about this meeting are in the email you will receive if accepted.

Change of Major Advising

The CEHD Advising office will have change of major walk-ins virtually every Friday morning from from 8:30 am to 11 am except during the times noted below

Change of major students will NOT be seen during the following times:

  • Pre-Registration (November 1st & 8th, 2024)
  • End of Semester Processing (December 20th, 2024 & January 3rd, 2025)
  • First Week of Classes
  • University Holidays
  • Summer NSC Days

Upper Level (Teacher Education)


Students must be admitted to the Educator Preparation Program (EPP) through the Aggie Educator Portal (AEP) before they are permitted to begin their Clinical two (C2) coursework. The minimum requirements for admission into the AEP are detailed below. The first day of class following your admission into Educator Preparation begins your official start into teacher preparation. Students are not permitted to take any shaded coursework until being formally admitted into the Educator Preparation Program. All shaded coursework must be completed after admission to the EPP to allow you to meet the clock hours that are required by Texas Education Agency (TEA) to be certified as a teacher in the State of Texas. Subsequently, if you take any shaded coursework before your official acceptance into the Aggie Educator Preparation Program, your ability to be certified will not be possible.

 

Below are the minimum requirements you must meet to be admitted to Aggie Educator Portal:

  1. Complete a minimum of 60 credit hours that count towards your degree
  2. Minimum GPR requirement of 2.75 or higher at Texas A&M
  3. Complete the following bold courses with a grade of “C” or better:
    1. 6 Hours of core Mathematics courses
    2. 6-8 Hours of core Life and Physical Science courses
    3. ENGL 103 or 104
    4. TEFB 273
    5. INST 222
    6. INST 210
